Blending education and fun is a core mission of The Big Fresno Fair and the new Sierra to the Sea exhibit does just that! Located inside Kids’ Town, this interactive exhibit shows the path of water from the Sierra mountain range to the Pacific Ocean, the animals and wildlife found along the way, and most importantly conservation efforts to help protect our beaches, oceans, wildlife and sea life from debris discarded into our waterways.
The Sierra to the Sea exhibit will include a sting ray and tide pool exhibit, which is hands-on, for people to touch and learn more about our sea life. There will also be daily educational shows provided by Ocean Adventures that gives us a glimpse of life in the ocean, including life-size blow ups of sharks and whales. Sandscapes will be doing a large sand sculpture so stop by daily to check their progress! Get snap-happy with plenty of photo opportunities with various cut outs and a great white shark sculpture!
There will be an entire “under sea” experience including a giant kelp forest as you walk from this exhibit to The Greenhouse with hanging jelly fish (fake of course!), shells and educational signs addressing the impact of when pollution hits the ocean floor.
The Sierra section of the building will have vegetation native to this area, as well as wildlife including lizards, snakes and frogs!
You don’t want to miss the chance to travel from the Sierra to the Sea – all in one building!
This exhibit is supported in part by the California Coastal Commission.
