Meet Dalia Canchola, a Reedley Middle College FFA student who is a Senior at Reedley Middle College High School:
Dalia believes that being able to get involved in FFA is a great way to learn more about agriculture, animal care, and leadership. This program is important to Dalia because it teaches responsibility, teamwork, and helps build confidence. It also provides opportunities to compete and showcase her hard work at fairs and livestock shows. Plus, Dalia gets to meet new friends who share similar interests and passions. Overall, it's a fun and rewarding experience that helps all of us grow and develop important life skills.
She purchased her lamb in June and has been caring for him ever since. He is six months old, a natural-colored lamb, and one of the team's only naturals! The lamb weighed less than 55 pounds when he first measured his weight. But with drive and persistence, she committed to getting my lamb to 100 pounds. That allowed her to raise her lamb's weight to 104 pounds. Through this project, Dalia has learned that building a good bond with animals takes dedication, hard work, and is a whole lot of responsibility. All of this hard work is worth it, seeing as it is her last year showing with the RMCHS lamb team. Through this experience, Dalia has gained valuable knowledge and skills that will help her throughout her life.
