Be sure to check out our award-winning museums at the Big Fresno Fair!
Big Fresno Fair Museum
First debuted in 2013, The Big Fresno Fair Museum showcases a cross-section of history from the past 137 years – taking visitors on a trip down memory lane and providing younger generations a glimpse of what Fair life was like far before they were born, as well as historical events that happened at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Fresno County Historical Museum
In 2015, the Fresno County Historical Museum, an extension of the award-winning Big Fresno Fair Museum, debuted making it the only museum of its kind to showcase the vast history of Fresno County. It provides a place where generations of Valley residents can reflect and learn about key events, studying interesting aspects of Fresno County’s rich history. One of the biggest capital improvement projects in the last decade at the Fairgrounds, the $3.2 million, 14,000 sq. ft. two-story building showcases everything from public safety and military to boxing and racing history, plus a celebration of the cultures that make Fresno County so unique!
Both the Fresno County Historical Museum and Big Fresno Fair Museum are open year round by appointment. To schedule a tour, please call (559) 650-FAIR. During the annual Big Fresno Fair the museums are open daily until 8 p.m. Additionally, during the Fair there are daily guided tours at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. These tours will begin on the north end of The Big Fresno Fair Museum located just south of the Chance Avenue Gate entrance.
