Meet Gurankush Riar, a Clovis FFA student who is a Junior at Clovis East High School.
Gurankush got involved in FFA to learn more about agriculture, gain leadership skills, and be part of a community that shares the same passion. FFA is important to him because it has provided hands on experiences with livestock, taught responsibility and dedication, and created opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. It has also given them lifelong friendships and a strong support system, making it more than just a program, it’s a place where they can build their future.
This year, Gurankush is showing a black crossbred Angus steer. Caring for this project has meant a daily commitment to feeding, grooming, exercising, and monitoring the steer’s health and growth. Gurankush has worked hard to ensure the steer is gaining properly while also training him to lead, set up, and remain calm in the show ring. This project has taught him the importance of responsibility, patience, and consistency. Preparing the steer for show has been both a challenge and a rewarding experience, and he is proud of the effort and dedication it has taken to get the animal ready for competition. Gurankush and his steer have grown a bond that is unbreakable from showing his steer at various livestock jackpots to playing with his steer during his free time. He has built such a bond that the steer only likes him and usually dose not like anyone else to touch him, yet in the show ring he is calm and okay with people touching him, it is truly something fascinating to see.
