Meet Logan King, a Sierra FFA student who is a Senior at Sierra Elementary:
"My name is Logan King, a 17-year-old senior at Sierra High School and a proud member of the Sierra FFA Chapter for the past five years. Over this time, I’ve immersed myself in the opportunities FFA provides, serving as Chapter Sentinel, Treasurer, and now as Chapter President. Leading our chapter is a tremendous honor, and I’m deeply committed to fostering growth, leadership, and agricultural excellence within our community. Your support has been vital to our chapter’s success, and I’m reaching out to invite you to be part of my journey at this year’s Big Fresno Fair.
Agriculture and livestock are at the heart of who I am. Raised in a family passionate about raising livestock, I’ve dedicated countless hours to raising and showing livestock, a pursuit that has shaped my character and aspirations. This year, I achieved a personal milestone by earning Reserve Champion Steer at Western Bonanza, California’s largest jackpot show, in February. This accomplishment reflects years of hard work, learning, and the generous support of people like you who believe in young agriculturalists.
Your belief in young people like me fuels our passion and drives us to excel. The Big Fresno Fair is a celebration of agriculture, and with your support, I can continue to grow as a leader and advocate for this industry I love. Thank you for considering this opportunity to invest in my future and the future of agriculture.
At the Big Fresno Fair, I’m excited to present two projects: a feeder steer named Super Panther and a market hog named Phil, a dark cross expected to weigh around 250 pounds. Returning to swine after my early 4-H days has been both challenging and rewarding. I’ve spent months mastering Phil’s care, carefully balancing his feed to ensure optimal growth, and dedicating daily time to feeding, exercising, and conditioning him. Super Panther, my steer, represents years of experience raising cattle, and I’m eager to showcase both animals in market competitions on Wednesday, October 8 and showmanship on Thursday, October 9. Phil will be available for purchase at the livestock sale on Saturday, October 11, at 9 a.m."
