Overview

Italians were some of the first European explorers and settlers of California, and those who found their way to the Golden State became an invaluable thread in the diverse tapestry that makes up our region. The San Joaquin Valley was appealing to these newcomers because the climate reminded them of home. Many Italians came to rejoin family already here. Celebrations were held as excited and tired travelers finally reached their destination in Fresno County. Their new lives had begun.
