Overview

Like many immigrants to America, Italian Americans had to struggle with changes to their everyday existence. In adapting to a dramatically different way of life, they made great efforts to earn money to keep themselves and their families stable, while attempting to retain the best elements of their familiar culture. Social clubs, festivals and religious celebrations provided ties back to Italy and familiar customs.
