Meet Arturo Mejia, a Tranquillity FFA exhibitor!
"I first heard of FFA when I was in 4th grade when my oldest brother decided to join FFA for the first time and the first in our family yet at the moment I still didn't know what it was. He took care of his animals as he was supposed to. Later my brother had told my sister to join and so she did and then my other brother was convinced and then I came to join FFA. Before I even got to high school I was there by my sister and brothers watching them take of their animals. Sometimes I helped out by giving them food or help walking them. At that moment I realized that I wanted to be in FFA and learn the full meaning of FFA. So I decided that in my first year in FFA that I was going to get an animal which I decided to choose a swine. That is my reasoning for joining FFA and I still have more to learn about FFA.
My project for my first year that I'm going to take to the Big Fresno Fair is a market Hampshire pig named Noir. Noir is a healthy big pig who is friendly with everyone especially if they have food. I train my animal by walking him every morning and afternoon, so he could get used to walking and so he can exercise. I also do what is necessary for Noir like feeding him every morning and afternoon, brush his hair, give him nice showers, and make sure he is healthy. Since this is my first year going to the Big Fresno Fair with an animal, I'm making sure he's ready and that I'm ready alongside him."
