Meet Hazel Barr, a Reedley FFA student who is a Junior at Reedley High School.
“I joined FFA my freshman year because my sister had already been in FFA. I saw how FFA gave her countless opportunities and made her fall in love with the program and I wanted to experience that too. Since I’ve joined, I’ve been learning many skills, such as responsibility, leadership, and dedication, through participating in every activity FFA offers and caring for my animals. FFA is important to me for the reason that it not only connects me to agriculture, but it also challenges me to prepare for my future, build confidence, and work hard.”
“This year, I have focused on raising and showing sheep. Since receiving my ewe, Lulú, on June 22, I have been dedicated to her care and training, working with her twice a day to ensure she is healthy, well-conditioned, and ready for show. I have been practicing showmanship skills, which includes walking, setting and bracing, so she can feel comfortable in the show ring.”
